I am so happy to be joining my first blog hop for Lori Whitlock's design team! :)
Today I have a fun layout to share using lots of Lori Whitlock's great cutting files and For the Record 2 Tailored papers (and a wonderful 2-page sketch by Becky Fleck at page maps)!
I had so much fun pulling the fall colors from Lori's For The Record Tailored collection which at first glance wouldn't bring Autumn to mind.
I am addicting to stitching so for this one I incorporated lots of machine stitching on the patchwork borders and hand-stitching on the heart, pumpkins and whimsical swirls...
I took Lori's fun doily paper from the collection and used a circle punch to isolate a couple of the circles and turned them into frames for my pumpkins. I love how doing this grounds the pumpkin shapes and also makes them stand out. My black scalloped borders were created by fussy cutting the repeating pattern in the "wallpaper" paper borrowed from the For the Record Documented collection (also designed by Lori). ;)
For this layout I used the following cutting files available at Lori's Shop:
Flourished Halloween
4 Fall Leaves
4 Fall Titles
Fall 2 Set
In honor of the blog hop, Lori is offering all the shapes I used today plus many, many more on a great sale! Woo-Hoo!
She also is giving away a $20 gift certificate when you leave a comment at her blog HERE.And if that all wasn't enough, she also created this awesome Thanksgiving banner which she is generously offering as a free download when you visit all the blogs in the hop. You can download the Letter "S" HERE.
Visit my fellow teammates blogs for more great Autumn ideas and to find the remaining "Thanksgiving" letter downloads! And be sure to leave them some love telling them what you love most about their projects! :)

Ok, Mendi. If I don't see this layout in a magazine soon there is something wrong with the world. LOL!! This is awesome! I wish I could see this layout in person. All the detailed stitching, the black around the pumpkins and the doily are my favorite parts...wait...and the color combos...the story...the photos... ;)

ReplyDeleteHi Mendi! I found you on the Lori Whitlock blog hop! It's great to meet someone else from the Portland area. I love your layouts and can't wait to see more of your creations! I work for Whimzee's Scrapbook Studio, over in Beaverton, if you're ever feeling like a little road trip, we've got some fun papercrafting stores over here and we are part of a 6 store tour every few months called Passport to Creativity. The next event is just in time for Christmas, on December 15th. Stop by our FB page for more details...https://www.facebook.com/whimzeesscrapbookstudio
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see all your work! -Julie
Thanks Julie! That's so sweet of you! I visited Whimzees about 10 years ago, but I heard it changed a lot since then (it seems like it was more of a gift shop when I went). From what I hear you may be one of the last scrapbook stores standing over there (congrats)--I know there are only two left in my neck of the woods. ;)
DeleteWe are! We do a lot of orders with Life's a Scrapbook in Sherwood. It's nice to have some partners in the business. The store has been in it's new location for almost 7 years now. It's exclusively scrapbooking & papercrafting supplies now. Can't wait to see more of your creations! Happy Halloween!
