Lawn Fawn Mother's Day & Thank You Cards

Hello there!  Sorry to be such a stranger.  Crafty days outside of projects for Sunny Studio have become few and far between.  I recently created a couple cards for a local store challenge though so I thought I would pop in and share them since Mother's Day is right around the corner.  ;)

I was given the gorgeous floral paper from Pebbles Patio Party 6x6 Paper pad so I thought it would be fun to finally ink up the Fab Flowers stamps by Lawn Fawn which I thought were a great match.  I create the look of water in my jar by stamping a second jar on a post-it note, cutting it out and adhering the negative portion so that I could ink up the water using Tumbled Glass distress ink.

When I was done I still had some leftover flowers and paper so I created a second card with my scraps.  I used the Scripty Thanks die for my sentiment and heat embossed the Jillibean Wood Veneer butterfly with some Buttercup Embossing Powder.   

Part of the challenge for the store was to incorporate alcohol inks so for both cards I sponged on some Turquoise & Patina colored inks onto Yupo Paper.

Pebbles Americana Patriotic Window Treat Bags + A Sale

A couple weeks back I had the pleasure of sharing these easy Patriotic treat bags on the Pebbles blog and today I thought I would share them with all of you!  :)   I made them when I was requested to come up with some Memorial Day gift ideas, but in the back of my mind I was thinking I would love to make something that would also work to hand out to my friends and family over the 4th of July.  The Fourth is a special holiday in our home so I was excited to use one of my favorite Pebbles collections from the past year: Americana!

To dress up my bags I cut out a fun handled topper from patterned paper using a cutting file designed by Lori Whitlock (available for purchase in the Silhouette store HERE or as an SVG file HERE) and embellished with some fun pinwheels, ribbon and sentiment stickers from the collection.

I also created a clear window in my bag to show off some patriotic cookies.  In hindsight I may or may not have been regretting that decision.  LOL!  I was really trying to make  THESE  beautiful cookies I found on Pinterest to show through my little window, but I should have remembered how little talent I actually have in the kitchen.  Somehow my white dough got lost in the middle and I ended up settling for more of a marbled look.

To create the window in my glassine bags I centered a scalloped circle die from the Homemade collection approximately one inch from the bottom edge and secured it with washi tape to keep it from shifting while running it through my die-cutting machine.

I then slid a slightly smaller clear plastic party bag down the center to hold my cookie.  It was super easy and yet I think the window adds a special detail to the project (particularly if you are a better baker than me).  ;) 

Here's one last look at the completed treat bags.  I tried to keep them simple to make them easy to mass produce for my party.  I think these would also make great take home treats for a child's birthday!

PageMaps November Sketch~Pebbles Birthday Wishes Layout

Hello there!  I hope you survived Halloween last night and are enjoying your Saturday!  I'm just popping in today to share a quick layout I created using a sketch by Becky Fleck over at PageMaps.

I created this using a newly released sketch of hers which is being debuted today!  Make sure to hop on over to take a look at all the wonderful sketches and inspiring pages the rest of the American Crafts, Crate Paper & Pebbles design team girls have created HERE!

I have used countless sketches over hers over the years and I can't begin to tell you what a thrill it was to finally be featured this month over on her site!  If you aren't already a follower, make sure to check out her archives HERE.  She does great PDF's each month (available within each link) which are great for printing out and starting a binder of inspiration with.

For my layout I used Pebbles darling Birthday Wishes collection.  This was my first opportunity to play with this amazing line and I have to say I fell in love.  There's so many great embellishments to work with, but the "Build You Own Ice Cream Sundae" set is a favorite!  It comes with 100 pieces of different bowls, cupcake wrappers, ice cream cones, candles, sprinkles, cherries, etc to mix and match.  Seriously fun!  :)

Pebbles Fall Apple Cards with Paper Weaving Tutorial

I have some Apple Themed cards  to share which I created with Pebbles ultra versatile Basics Collection!

For my first card I turned to my Silhouette Cameo (using Lori Whitlock's apple shape found HERE or HERE).  I added a little stitching around the edge, stamped a Papertrey Ink sentiment onto one of their die-cut tags and then layered them with a die-cut daisy topped with a button center.  This came together quickly and yet I think it still has a lot of personality.  

Up next I have a card featuring a great basic apple print paper from Pebbles Back To School Collection and a handmade apple embellishment which I created from woven paper strips and another one of Lori's apple cutting file found HERE.

My last card features yet another die-cut apple from that same woven paper.  I was thrilled to discover I could make two apples from my one woven 6x6 sheet .  I kept the rest of my card design simple using a 5" circle die-cut for my base and adding a little ribbon with a tag for my sentiment to help dress it up.

Pebbles Inc. Design Team Announcement!!!

I've been sitting on a secret that I have wanted to shout from the rooftops.  Pebbles has invited me to join their new design team!  Really?  Me?  I still can't believe it...  

This may sound corny, but as someone who has tried out for their previous teams for two years running and faced the sting of disappointment I'm living proof that you should never give up on your dreams.  ;)  I am beyond thrilled to be joining these six other talented ladies that I look up to and admire.

A Pebbles Garden Party Spring in Japan Layout

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  :)  Today I thought I would share a layout I created using Pebbles Garden Party collection.

So I have a confession to make... I started with the plan to stamp the word hello in black and then if felt too harsh next to my die-cut flowers which had centers that were more charcoal in color.  I tried to remedy that by taking a marker to the flowers, but then it felt like they both didn't match the feel of my layout.  Sooo... I ended up salvaging them and covering them both.  I covered the hello stamp with Technique Tuesday's matching Say It Hello die (it took two to completely hide it) and covered the die-cut flower centers with some older American Crafts flowers.

Unfortunately that wasn't my only boo-boo to cover up.  After running the darling white scalloped journaling card through my printer, it printed terribly crooked and to fix that I decided to reprint them on some pink cardstock and cover it with strip style journaling.  Things just weren't going my way, but I think it goes to show almost anything can be fixed.  LOL!  :)

I love these sweet and simple birds from the collection!  I finished off my layout by stamping the date on the little die-cut ticket using some more Technique Tuesday date stamps from their Sentiment Tabs set.  :)

A Pebbles Inc. Americana Home of The Free Layout

As promised I'm back today to share a layout using Pebble's Americana collection.  I had so much fun with this one!  I decided to create my page's theme around one of the cutouts from the collection that says "One Nation Under God".  I usually am a bit shy when it comes to being vocal about my faith and belief in God, but I thought it was important to document my values for my children and future grandchildren.

For my title I used some of Pebbles glitter foam thickers in combination with an older set of red rub-ons by American Crafts called MiniMarks (ginger font).  I decided to play up the natural feel of this collection with some wood veneer stars, buttons and twine, using them in combination with the die cut shapes and pinwheel from the collection.

For my journaling I printed it on vellum using my printer's specialty paper setting, giving it plenty of time to dry and then used 3M Spray Mount as my adhesive.  This product is awesome at giving even coverage without any visibility, but it's also lethal stuff so make sure to do it inside a big cardboard box and in a spot where you have plenty of ventilation.  ;)

Pebbles really knocked it out of the park with these papers!  I love how they can be both Patriotic as well as just a pretty red, white and blue picnic sort of line with a focus on the florals and ginghams (I have another layout in the works that has nothing to do with the fourth of July that I'm hoping to finish and share later in the summer).
