A Lori Whitlock Rainbow Hexagon Card

It's my new favorite day of the week!  I have the privilege of getting to share another Lori Whitlock project which is being featured over on her blog today!  Yay!   I also have overcome a fear of mine and put together my ever first video tutorial to go along with my project!  Woo-Hoo!  So are you ready to see what I've made?

I altered Lori's Hexagon Card cutting file to form my card background pattern along with one of my all time favorite paper lines:  Echo Park's Summer Days collection (also designed by Lori).

And here's my video explaining how I achieved that.  Please go easy on me.  I am still learning to experiment with the sound concerning voice levels and minimizing background noise with the cheap microphone I have.  Also after a lot of fussing over saving my video in different formats and ratios, I finally got it to work on you tube (without it being completely fuzzy or having a warped image), but you must click on that little gear shape in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and click either the 720p or 1080p HD option.  For all you veterans out there, I welcome your pointers.  ;)

I hope the video helps you to better understand how I used Lori's file with a twist to create my card.  I think with great basic shapes and a little creativity, you can really get a lot of mileage and different looks from a single cutting file!  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  :)

  2. Great video! Thanks for sharing what you did. I don't have a Cameo or Silhouette, but I do have another program I can use to cut from a cutter and this was great to give me an idea of how to do something similar. Now I need to buy that file. LOL I appreciate your taking the time to share. Your work always makes me smile!

Have a great start to your week.

  3. That was an awesome video!! Very detailed and I love the technique! Your card is just beautiful and perfect to herald in some sunshine. I wonder if there is a way to connect the hexagon in each color row so that you don't have to cut out each hexagon separately. Always love your work Mendi!! Thanks for sharing your work!

    1. Ya know, now that you say that, there probably is a way to make the hexagon's touch and then weld them together. I was just worried if I enlarged them to overlap, then that would mean they would also be overlapping into the other color rows on the edges too (but maybe trimming them down the sides with scissors would have still made it quicker). :)

  4. Wonderful video thanks for sharing your work. To replicate the designs instead of duplicating each one individually; go to object, replicate, row of 3,4 or column of 3,4 and you can keep doing that until you get the number you want.
