A Doodlebug Happy-Go-Lucky St. Patrick's Day Layout

Hello there! I have a new layout up on Doodlebug's blog today using the aptly named Happy-Go-Lucky collection! The stickers and characters in this line just make me smile!

For this layout, I turned to a fun sketch by Creative Scrappers as my jumping off point. I had a blast embellishing each circle on the sketch like a mini canvas. For those of you who are intimidated by scrapbooking, this is the perfect way to get past your fears and break things down into bite sized pieces.

For this little circle, I layered the pot of gold sticker with some mini bumblebee jewels. I love adding small touches like this to my stickers to make them special.

To ground the bottom half of my page, I added a series of scalloped borders. Some of the prints were getting lost and blending into one another so I decided to punch a second border from the lighter green patterned paper to act as a little divider between some of the busier prints.

St. Patrick's day papers are hard to come by and this is such a fun collection with so many great prints! I can't wait to make something else with all the fun rainbow motifs for a completely different look!

A Doodlebug Frosty Friends Skiing Snow Bunnies Layout

Hello there! I found a little time recently to play some more with my favorite Frosty Friends collection so I thought I would share the results of my scrappy session (I made this layout to compliment another Frosty Friends layout I previously shared HERE).

To create my title I combined some of my favorite Love Letters alphabet stickers with the word "Snow" which I die-cut on my Silhouette.

I had a little space between my two largest photos that felt a bit bare to me so I layered a snowflake punch with a doodlepop snowflake. I like how it helps create a diagonal feel to my overall layout connecting my smaller photos.

I honestly had my layout pretty much completed and I was satisfied with the feel of it, but then I remembered I still hadn't included any journaling. I didn't want to completely fill the last bit of "white space" I had in the bottom, left corner so I decided to compromise by printing my journaling on vellum for a lighter, slightly transparent look.

3M Spray Mount is a wonderful adhesive for this. I finally broke down and bought some and I'm in love. There really is no better way to adhere vellum--It's completely invisible! Just make sure to use a big cardboard box in an area that is well ventilated because it's super sticky and has the potential to ruin your precious surfaces.

Like so many of us, do you have pages and pages of layouts just waiting for their journaling to be completed? Consider revisiting your old sheets of vellum for the task--It's always a perfect match. ;)

Lori Whitlock Blog Hop: Echo Park We Are Family Layout

Hello & Welcome to Lori Whitlock's January blog hop! You should be arriving here from Corri's blog or if you're just joining us you can start from the beginning at Lori's blog. :)

Today I am sharing a layout I created using Lori's We Are Family collection she designed for Echo Park. To create this layout I started with a sketch by Becky Fleck as my inspiration (see below).

For my title I was able to take the word "sweet" from one of Lori's other titles and customize it to fit my needs by typing out the second half of my title using Lori's "Friendly" font.

My layout is about my friend flying to Ethiopia for a year so I cut out an airplane and suitcase to layer on my tag and reinforce my theme. When my page was completely done I added glossy accents to the hearts to make them look like epoxy shapes.

My page was inspired by this PageMaps sketch from May 2014.

I love that I was able to find many of the exact elements in the sketch using shapes designed by Lori. I took a screen shot of my layout as I played with different sizes and colors for my shapes.

When I had everything the way I liked it, I set it to the side of my mat and duplicated it so I could sort the shapes by color and cut them out one by one. I kept the original intact so when it came to assembling my layout I had something to refer to.

I used a lot of the double sided solid papers from this collection in my page so I was able to mirror my green shapes and cut them at the same time as my aqua shapes, etc. I'm always stoked when I can do that!
