Doodlebug Design Masculine Birthday & Father's Day Cards

Hi there! Today I'm thrilled to be sharing some playful cards which are being featured over on the Doodlebug blog. They would be perfect for the guys in your life!

Up first I have a fun sweater vest card which I created using my Silhouette (available as a free download HERE).

I paired Doodlebug's Day to Day bow tie with a variety of great basic papers from various collections. I then used my clear ruler to poke holes every 1/8 inch down the center of each diamond to hand-stitch my argyle pattern with 3 strands of embroidery floss.

My next card also was created on my Silhouette (available as a free download HERE).

I cut the guitar top from some Friendly Forest woodgrain paper which perfectly coordinates with the teal paper from the Kraft In Color Collection. I strung Doodle twine through 6 holes I poked with my paper-piercer and then used those same holes to insert doodlebug's mini brads. I then taped the strings to the back of the guitar panel before adhering it to the card base. The Happy Birthday Doodle cardstock stickers are a little pliable so they were perfect for applying on the curve!

When in doubt I think stars always work well for boys so for my last card I paired a Patriotic Parade star sticker and star sprinkles with the colorful papers from the Hip Hip Hooray collection. For my star burst pattern I simply cut random rays with my paper trimmer and scraps of paper. I then adhered them to a 5.5" x 4.25" card panel, cut off the excess with my scissors and stitched them with coordinating colors of thread.

Simple Stories Say Cheese Disney Layouts

Hi there! Did you have a nice weekend? I thought I would share a couple of Disney inspired layouts I created over National Scrapbook Day last month using Simple Stories 2 Say Cheese collections.

To make these layouts I turned to some fun sketches designed by my favorite gals over at Scrapbook Generation. I am a huge fan of both their monthly downloads as well as their printed sketch books.

This layout just fell together using the sketch and all the great papers from the two collections. I love how Simple Stories designed them to compliment each other and mix & match! For my top border (and bottom one too) I cut strips from the fun filmstrip paper and then popped up a larger heart in one of the frames.

For my bottom border I used some older Spellbinder Pennant dies to cut a banner border from all the different pretty patterns from the collection.

One of the 3x4 cards worked perfectly for my title. I don't always use these as much as I should, but I love how quick and easy they are and how I didn't have to go searching for the perfect title!

For a second page in my album, I wanted to mimic many of the same patterns so I used another sketch which features a large panel covered with strips of patterned paper.

While my first page accommodated quite a few photos I decided to keep the focus on just one special photo for this layout. I honestly have sooo many Disney photos from our different trips over the years that I've lost the desire or need to scrapbook every single one. With the pressure off I don't mind taking the time to do something special for some of my favorites. ;)

I was able to embellish my page using two 4x4 cards which I cut apart and dressed up with stitching. For my title I paired the gold metallic alphabet stickers from the collection with some red alphas from the Sn@p collection in the same font.

These sketches made everything fall together so effortlessly and I had a lot of fun working on them. I hope I've inspired you to pull out a few of your favorite photos from a recent (or old) vacation and scrapbook them. Thanks so much for stopping by. :)
