CardMaker & Our Daily Bread Blog Hop: Christmas Cards

Hello and welcome to the CardMaker and Our Daily Bread blog hop.  You should be arriving here from Julie Warner's blog or if you are just joining us you can start from the beginning at the CardMaker blog.  :)

My first card uses one of the pretty 6x6 papers from Our Daily Bread's Christmas paper collection from last year.  I chose to keep my design simple and just die-cut the bottom with a decorative edge and then stamped the beautiful sentiment from the Christmas Carols set in leftover paper from that same sheet.  I then die-cut it with a spellbinder label die and popped it up with foam tape over the little scene.

To finish my card I pulled out some oldies, adding an ancient Making Memories buckle to some velvet ribbon with some crocheted lace below it.

For my second card I focused on the Elegant Embellishments stamps and matching dies.  For two of the ornaments, I heat embossed the stamped images onto white cardstock before die-cutting them and sponging them with distress inks for an easy resist technique.  For the third ornament, I die-cut both the snowflake ornament and a solid ornament, inking up the solid one before layering them together with a glue pen.

I decided to add some extra texture to my card by dry embossing the background with an embossing folder.  For my sentiment strip, I sponged on some ink onto a white cardstock strip graduating from a light to dark ink and then made sure it was good and dry with my heat gun before adding my heat embossed sentiment.  :)

I hope I've inspired you in your own Christmas card making.  To create my projects today I used the following supplies by Our Daily Bread Designs:
