Red & White Snowflake & Holiday Home Christmas cards

Hello there!  How's was your weekend? Did you get some items crossed off your holiday "to do" list?  Today I'm popping in with a couple of simple Christmas cards using only red and white cardstock (and of course some of my favorite dies).  I am always a sucker for simple red and white cards.  There's just something about them...

Up first I have a card using Simon Says Stamp Cold Hands Warm Heart Village dies
with their Peace On Earth stamps and Falling Snow Stencil.  For my hillsides I also used the hillside border dies by Lawn Fawn.  This was my first attempt with Ranger Texture paste for the snowy background.  It's a bit difficult to see, but I love the way it looks in person!  I finished off my card by heat embossing my sentiment in red.  :)

My second card uses Lawn Fawn's Stitched Snowflake dies with a tag die by Impression Obsession.  I also embossed my background using a snowflake embossing folder by Darice.  I finished off my card with some stickles glitter glue (rather than rhinestones) to keep it a bit flatter for mailing.

This last design would be pretty easy to recreate for mass producing.  Are any of you designing your own Christmas cards this year?   I would love to see what you're working on.  You can share with me on my facebook page HERE:)

Simon Says Stamp Stencil It Challenge with Rainbow Cards

Hi there!  I hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend!  :)

After a couple weeks of madly sorting, scanning and editing photos of my grandmother for a special slideshow for her Memorial service next weekend, I finally am finished and it felt so freeing that I sat down and had a blast yesterday just playing to my heart's content.  No assignments, no deadlines, just having fun like a little kid with new art supplies!  I gotta say it felt great!

I decided it would be fun to check out some challenges going on at some of my favorite blogs so for today's cards I was inspired by the "Stencil It" challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog.

Card No. 1:  For this card I applied my Versamark stamp pad directly to the stencil and paper surface and then sprinkled on different colors of embossing powders in a rainbow pattern.  I thought this would be super messy, but by starting at the bottom and then gradually adding powders one at a time, I actually didn't lose any powder in the process.

Card No. 2:  For this card I sponged on a rainbow of colors using Echo Park's I Love Sunshine Summer Flag Stencil and my favorite distress ink colors.  Seriously I have purchased almost all of them, but I find myself repeatedly turning to the same 7 or 8 colors.   For the bow I decided to add one of Doodlebug's Jumbo brads topped with an ancient American Crafts flower rub-on (from about 7 years ago).

I'm hoping to continue my crafty streak and be back to share more soon.  Make sure to swing by the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog to see loads of inspiration with stencils and maybe even play along for a chance to win a $50 gift card to their online store.  ;)

Simon Says Stamp Ice Cream Dream Summer Card

Happy Monday!  With summer almost upon us thoughts of yummy ice cream treats fill my head.  I have a little confession...  I eat like a kid (seriously), BUT I've been trying my best to incorporate some more fruits and vegetables into my diet so I have been on a major smoothie kick lately.  It's amazing what you can sneak into those things without even tasting them.  ;)  I'm thinking it would be pretty fun to stock up on some fun popsicle molds and turn my smoothies into sorbet pops!

Today's card is all about yummy treats using an adorable stamp set exclusive to Simon Says Stamp called Ice Cream Dream.  I decided it would be fun to stamp them in a circle which I achieved by lightly tracing an offset circle and drawing light spokes with my pencil to line up my images.  When I was done stamping, I just erased my lines and colored them in pinks and browns with my Copic Markers (colors linked below).

To lend a more realistic look to my icy treats I added glossy accents to portions of the treats that I thought would be "wet".  This card was so much fun to make and I find these darling images irresistible!

Technique Tuesday Rainbow Chevron Thank You Card & More

I'm sure it's no secret by now that I LOVE bright colors and rainbows absolutely make my heart swoon!  I blame it on growing up in the 80's.  ;)  Today I have two cards to share using a rainbow theme.

For my first card I repeatedly stamped Technique Tuesday's chevron border stamps using versamark ink & white embossing powder on an A2 card panel.  After heat setting it, I cut my panel into strips between each "V" and used an ink resist technique with all my favorite distress ink colors.  I then pieced them back together on my card base to create this fun rainbow look.

To continue my rainbow theme I repeatedly stamped the word "thanks" in each of the same colors and fussy cut the individual letters out to adhere directly to my card.

My next card uses some fun circle paperclips (available HERE) that I purchased at my local Staples.  I wanted to do something fun with them so I cross-stitched them on my card front with different colors of embroidery floss to match the patterned paper in my border.  I then finished off my card sentiment with one of my favorite die and matching stamp sets by Simon Says Stamp.

I hope I've inspired you to experiment and try your own twists on the rainbow theme!  I would love to see what you come up with!  Share your creations with me at my facebook page found HERE.  :)
