Doodlebug Color Challenge: Bubblegum Pink Scrapbook Layout

Hi there!  I'm so excited to finally be sharing my scrapbook page on the Doodlebug Blog today showcasing one of my favorite Doodlebug colors: Bubblegum!  Who am I kidding though?  They're all my favorites!  :)

For this project we were challenged to not only create a monochromatic project, but to take inspiration from another Doodlebug project and make it our own.  I decided to create three groupings of embellishments made famous here by the talented Melinda Spinks (seen here, here and here).

I love how these groupings dressed up my page and allowed me to use up some extra embellishments in my stash, but still kept my page looking clean and simple.

To give my circles a little more shape and hide any gaps in my circle, I punched holes using a paper piercer and some circle dies as templates and then hand-stitched around them with some white embroidery floss.

In keeping with the clean look, I added a simple journaling strip which I created using a text box in Microsoft Word with a white font on a black background.  I then used the same circle die to trace the edge of the circle onto the journaling strip with a pencil and fussy cut the edges off with my scissors to fit it around the curves of my circle.

I hope I've inspired you to create a fun monochromatic layout of your own--It's really a fun exercise to help get the creative juices flowing!  :)

  1. Mendi this is a beautiful layout! I love the shade of pink first off... and Hayley is just a doll! SHe's so photogenic and I still cannot believe how much the girls have grown! Looking back at photos that you scrap of them, their features have changed slightly but all the while, they are so beautiful. Hayley looked extremely happy in these photos... I'm betting her 9th birthday was a special one! I love your groupings that you did and the embellies that you used to create them! I like how that adds a lot of interest to your layout and the stitching around the circles really makes those circles pop right off the page! Great layout my friend. You ALWAYS do amazing work!

  2. I always LOVE anything you create, but add the bonus of Doodlebug and Bubblegum Pink and that is a perfect combo!
