Doodlebug Design Goal! Soccer Mini Album with Download

Hi there!  I'm excited to be sharing a fun project on the Doodlebug blog today using their newest Goal! collection (along with 8 sheets of 6x6 raw chipboard I had on hand).

I knew immediately when I saw these darling papers, I needed to make a special mini album as a gift for my Stepdad.  His daughter was a soccer champ and now he has a little grandson who is following in his Mom's footsteps so I thought it would be fun to give him an album to collect all his treasured photos in.  :)

I was only given a few pictures to start the album off with so the remaining pages have been left open.  I plan to make this a gift that keeps on giving.  As my Stepdad acquires new pictures, I will print them off and size them to fit in his little album.

Today I am offering a free download HERE for the cutting files I created for some of the special pages in this mini album, including the curved label for the front cover, the scalloped pages for the soccer ball sprinkles seen below and the curved labels for the last set of pages.

While some of the pages are pretty simple in design I wanted to resist the urge to get too specific.  I decided it would be easier to use later with photos of any orientation if I didn't paint myself into a corner design wise.

For the last set of pages in the book, I designed it to fit a series of baseball sized cards (or in this case soccer cards).

I just love the soccer ball die-cuts in this collection.  I thought they were really fun to design with and I had fun finding new ways to incorporate them on the different pages.

In the end I was able to use 8 of the 12 papers that come with the collection pack and a great deal of the matching embellishments for my project.  Since we don't personally play soccer, I love that I was able to put nearly every last bit to good use without a lot of waste.

I hope I have inspired you to make a special keepsake album of your own.  Keep in mind this project could easily be made with the baseball or basketball papers instead simply by switching out the balls so if soccer's not your game, this would be perfect for the other sports as well.  ;)

  1. Mendi... this little mini album is adorable! Soccer is a sport near and dear to me as my son played when he was younger and I coached his team for a couple years. I only wish this Doodlebug collection was around all those years ago when I made his album. Your Stepdad is going to love this! You did a fantastic job my friend and great download!
    Hugs,

    1. Thank you Jo. It was fun to work with. I'm playing with my favorite of their sports collections next called "Home Run". Once again I don't have any photos, but all the papers are so cute. I think I'm going to make some masculine birthday cards. ;)
