Doodlebug Lovebugs Valentine's Day Love Notes Cards

Happy Monday!  How are you today?  I hope you had a nice weekend.  :)  Today I have some Valentine's Day cards to share!  :)

My first two cards were created for a card challenge for my local craft store's monthly card challenge.  To complete the challenge they gave each of us a 1/2 sheet of my favorite paper from the new Doodlebug Lovebugs collection called Sealed With A Kiss, a Doodlebug Paperclip, a Triveni Craft red rhinestone heart (I had some extras on hand) and a 12-inch piece of sheer ribbon. I was feeling really inspired and there were enough supplies so I actually create two.

My first card uses a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's Sending Happy Thoughts stamp set as well as the darling mailbox from Lawn Fawn's You've Got Mail set (colored in with Copic Markers).  I love how the little letters from the patterned paper look cut out and scattered with the little red box--Their size is the perfect match!  I ended up cutting a slit in the mailbox opening with my Fiskars Craft Knife to slip a couple of the letter into.

My next card uses many of the same elements, this time making sure to use every single element we were given for the challenge.  I substituted the rhinestone heart for the word love in the Lawn Fawn sentiment and used Papertrey Ink's Journal Card 2 die for my scalloped mat.  Sweet and simple.  :)

I made this last card quite some time ago for one of Paper Craft Magazine's contests where they challenged us to use washi tape in a fun way.  I never got around to sharing it here on my blog and I thought Valentine's Day was the perfect time to do it.  :)

I printed the custom sentiment myself using my computer and added a little Doodlebug Heart Sprinkle for a splash of red.  To line up my strips of washi tape, I drew a light line with my pencil 1/3 from the card front edge and then used it as a guide for lining up my tape.  I then folded them over on the the back, stitched around the perimeter and added it to a card base to hide everything and make it look pretty on the inside.

I hope I've gotten you in the mood to make a few Valentine's of your own this year.  :)

I also wanted to take a moment to apologize for the double emails you may have been receiving as part of my subscriber list.  I couldn't figure out why I was receiving two emails for each post in the past couple months, but this weekend I finally got to the bottom of it and realized Feedburner was using my old email list and generating emails from another source.  I have now deleted that list and you should now only be receiving one email per post from me from now on. I am sooo sorry for the inconvenience and for unintentionally spamming your inbox...  ;)
