Valentine Card Ideas With Baker's Twine & Ribbon

I have a couple Valentine Day card ideas I made using a variation of the same general idea.

Both of these cards were made in response to a publication call using a sketch found in Paper Crafts January/ February 2013 issue.  The sketch called for a 3x2 grid of 6 items and for my design I went with hearts diecut on Silhouette using the negative space left once the hearts were cut out.  I liked using the Silhouette for the task (versus a punch or diecut) because I was able to have perfect alignment without a lot of fuss.

This first one went together extremely fast.  I just taped some ribbon down to the backside, added a bow to the front with my sentiment, stitched around the perimeter and adhered it to the card base.  I can totally see mass producing this card for all sorts of occasions!  :)

This second one took a bit more time, but not nearly as much as you may think.  Because I kept the hearts above and below each other the same color, I was able to add 3 rows of sticky adhesive between the hearts and just attach small sections of baker's twine behind each heart.

The thickness of the baker's twine added some bulk so afterwards I added a bit of thin chipboard to the back of the card front (where there was no twine) to keep the center from being higher than the rest of the card. I like the clean and simple design of this one. It has a more of a graphic feel than my typical style, but I like it. :)

Hope you all have a completely AWESOME weekend filled with lots of rest, relaxation and crafty time!

    1. Thanks Stephanie! This is one of my all time favorite Echo Park lines so I couldn't resist doing my blog with it when Jessica Sprague had an awesome deal on it. ;)
