Doodlebug Under The Sea Disney 2-page Scrapbook Layout

Hello there!  I'm thrilled to be back sharing another 2-page layout on the Doodlebug blog today, this time using Doodlebug's fun Under The Sea collection!

I was super excited to be able to visit the CHA trade show and Doodlebug's adorable booth for the first time this past January so I was determined to find a way to take inspiration from their booth and use portholes on my scrapbook page!  To do this I created a special cutting file on my Silhouette that I am sharing as a free download HERE.

I cut each porthole once from cardstock and then a slightly smaller version twice from Silhouette's chipboard.  It designed extra thin so your machine can handle it so I think glued all the layers together with a glue pen.  When I was done I added 12 white mini brads to the provided holes and back it with a circle cut from the beach treasures patterned paper.

I love the depth that little bit of chipboard gives to the scene!  I embellished the portholes with icon stickers popped up with foam tape.  Doodlebug's new Bubble Sprinkles were the perfect finishing touch!

To balance out my portholes, I added a fun little scene to the bottom, left-hand corner of my layout using the Mermaid Doodlepop and more fun stickers from the icon sticker sheet.

Before I go I thought I would share a couple pictures of Doodlebug's beautiful booth that inspired my page (unfortunately The portholes were on the other interior walls and I didn't get a very good picture).  ;)

Lori Whitlock Hop: Echo Park Petticoats & Pinstripes Layout

Hello there!  The Lori Whitlock team is back with our monthly blog hop.  You should be arriving here from Corri's blog or if you are just joining in, you can start from the beginning at Lori's blog.  :)

For my project today I pulled out Lori's newest collection for Echo Park called Petticoats & Pinstripes.  It's a very fun, girly collection with a bit of a vintage vibe.

For my title I paired some stickers from the collection pack with the word "daughter" cut out on my Silhouette using an old favorite font of mine called "CK Puppy Love".  It's a fun one.

To create my scalloped borders I welded several of my favorite borders together of Lori's.  I love how I can always size them to be the perfect width for my project!

As soon as I saw the teapots patterned paper I knew I had the perfect photo that had been sitting in my photo box for a number of years that would go with it perfectly!  I chose to cut out Lori's cute teapot and teacup cutting files that match so well.

After I cut them out though I was feeling they felt a little flat to me so I decided to cut out a second set, trimming off the handles, spout and bases to pop up over the first set with some foam tape for a little dimension.  I added some chalk ink to the edges to add to that sense of dimension and then pulled out an old paper daisy and an Echo Park brad to add for a final touch of interest.

I will admit that I really struggled to finish this layout.  I felt like it was busy and a bit blah all at the same time. After I finished and stitched down my background, I really hit a brick wall.  I must have moved the photo and elements around a million times and couldn't figure out where to fit in my journaling.

As a last minute addition, I realized I could cut out one of Lori's fun photo corners topped with a sticker from the collection to complete my visual triangle.  While it's probably not my favorite layout, I finally got it to a point where I'm satisfied.  Ultimately I'm happy to have the memory documented and that's what's really important, right?  ;)
