Papertrey Ink Wonderful Words Fall Friends card

Today I'm sharing a fall card with a fun technique that you can recreate with the use of a few basic supplies you most likely already have in your stash. I thought it would be fun to piece together strips of cardstock and then dry emboss it afterwards.

To keep things from getting too thick, I adhered my strips of cardstock to a thin piece of printer paper and then ran it though my Sizzix machine using a cuttlebug embossing folder. I love how the embossed design looks bleeding from one strip to the next!

To give my die-cut leaf some extra dimension, I added dry embossed veins using my Martha Stewart score board. I finished off my card with a stamp & die combo for the sentiment and a little bit of ribbon tied around the center (or should I say faked to look like it was tied around the center). ;)

CardMaker Magazine & Jessica Lynn Originals Blog Hop

Today the ladies on the Cardmaker Magazine blog team are joining the ladies over at Jessica Lynn Originals to share some ideas using their line of clear stamps. You should be arriving here from Vickie's blog or if you are just joining us you can start from the beginning at the Cardmaker blog. :)

For my card I was given the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Stamp set to work with. I decided to go with a soft look, stamping the image with brown Memento ink and coloring in with pale Copic Markers. I used the BG0000 pen to sketch a soft, loose frame and then colored it in with the same marker and stitched a border around the edge to add a simple detail.

As I colored this, I kept having a sentiment run through my head so I added my own computer generated phrase to the panel using the "cookie" font before popping it up with foam and adhering the panel to my card base.

Now, I realized too late that I really don't know my dog breads so I colored this spaniel with the wrong coloring, but I was already committed. ;) Here's a snapshot of the colors I used.

Doodlebug October 31st Halloween Scrapbook Layout

Hello there! Today I'm extra excited to share my layout today using the ultra cute October 31st collection by Doodlebug! I dare say this is my favorite Halloween collection, ever. I just love the addition of the aqua blue to mix things up! I have been holding onto these photos of my kids for awhile now just waiting for a collection to come along that they would match with.

I love the little haunted house icon sticker so I used it as a focal point to create my little scene around. I like to group my embellishments in three's to create a visual triangle which directs the viewers eye throughout the page and helps add balance.

For the second point in my triangle I layered a punched circle over a black sticker from the This & That Sticker sheet. The fence from the icon sticker sheet and an owl doodlepop completed the grouping.

For the final point of my visual triangle, I added a simple pumpkin sticker layered with a kitty sticker popped up with foam tape.

I hope I've inspired you to dress up your own scrapbook layouts using the visual triangle principle. I love how it can help take the guesswork out of embellishment placement! :)

CardMaker & Paper Smooches Blog Hop: Autumn Grove Card

Today the ladies on the Cardmaker Magazine blog team are joining together with the talented ladies over at Paper Smooches to share some of their newest fun products for September!

For my card I was given the Autumn Grove stamp set along with their newest birch tree dies to play with. I thought it would be fun to ink up the background to look like dusk behind the die-cut trees. To give my tree trunks the glow of moonlight, I cut them from both black (for the outline) and again from white cardstock which I shaded with neutral grey Copic markers.

For my sentiment, I inked up a piece of scratch cardstock with a blend of yellow and orange ink using a foam applicator and then stamped the sentiment over the top afterwards. The little scarecrow and three pumpkins were colored with Copic markers and fussy cut to finish my scene. I had so much fun creating this card! :)
