A Back to The Future Themed Birthday Party

Hi there!  Awhile back I shared some party preparations I was making in anticipation of my daughter's upcoming Back To The Future birthday party (shared HERE).  Well we celebrated this past Friday night and I thought I would share the other party details I added to make my daughter's day special and carry out our theme.  ;)

To start the mood off right I created some of my own party invitations on my Silhouette Studio software using the flame border cutting file (with the cut lines turned off) and their gradient fill options to mimic the movie poster.  I then just printed them 4 to a sheet, trimmed them down to 4 x 5.25 and adhered them to a flat 4.25 x 5.5 yellow postcard style card base.  They came together in about an hour, but I think they are still lots of fun (of course there were more party details which I have removed for privacy).  ;)

You can see part of the banner in the picture above that I shared with you last last time.  Well at the last minute I decided to create a second quick banner by printing out some images of memorabilia I found on the web from the movie and using medium sized clothespins to clip them to some ladybug red chunky twine.  It was a really fun conversation piece and so easy to create.  :)

I put the cupcake picks that I shared last time to good use in some simple homemade cupcakes.  I had completely forgotten about THIS cupcake stand I had bought over at Amazon last year, but I love the way the tiers really emphasized the flames and made the cupcakes become a true centerpiece.

No Back To The Future party is complete without some "freeze dried" Pizza Hut pizzas so I decorated some sugar cookies with the leftover frosting, mini m&m's and some sprinkles found over in the Halloween aisle at Target.  They were a huge hit!  :)

We rounded out our party with the Back To the Future soundtrack playing in the background.  It was so cheap at Amazon and it really helped set the mood.  Some of the theme songs made us feel like we were at Universal Studios waiting in line to board the ride.  ;)  It also worked great for playing a game of musical chairs (I thought a game of "hot potato" with a faux hover board would also be super fun).  ;)

We finished out our night with a late night viewing of the movie in our sleeping bags with a couple friends spending the night (using a more kid friendly version my daughter had recorded off the family channel). All in all, my daughter loved it and I was happy to make her dreams come true, just short of having Michael J. Fox show up in person.  ;)

I hope I've inspired all of you "Back To The Future" lovers out there.  This would make an awesome themed party for Halloween too.  I found some really cool costumes for many of the characters HERE that I think would be so much fun!  :)

Before I leave I thought I would share the link of another Back To The Future party that I found with some really cute ideas that you can see HERE.  I just love the idea of having a Welcome Home Uncle Joey cake!  I'm so not talented with frosting, but I bet you could take a picture in with you to your local bakery and have them copy it for you.  ;)

    1. Thanks Jo! I wish you could have been there too. I totally lucked out with that cupcake stand. I think it really made the flaming cupcakes look better and I couldn't have planned it better if I tried. I was so lucky to stumble across it in my cabinet. LOL! :)
