Doodlebug Cards With New Sizzix Dies & Embossing Folders

Hello there!  I am so excited to share my latest obsession.  Today on the Doodlebug blog I am sharing a handful of cards using their newest Dies and Embossing Folders by Sizzix.

As you can see by the number of cards I made I could have created with these for days.  Every time I started one card, another card idea popped into my head.  I just know you are going to fall in love with them just as much as I have!

Card No. 1:  For my first card I paired the Sunshine Backdrops paper from the Hello Sunshine collection with some of the raindrops sprinkle vellum.  To add a little detail to my umbrella die-cut I added some hand-stitching and a bumblegum jewel.

Card No. 2:  This card focuses on the two different flowers pulled from two of the Thinlits Die Sets using more papers from the Hello Summer Paper Pack and a sheet of Lily White Sprinkles vellum.  I love how by putting some below the vellum they take on the look of patterned paper and prevent them from detracting from the sentiment and focal point flower on top.

Card No. 3:  My next card was my first actually.  As soon as I saw the adorable rainbow and cloud dies I couldn't wait to make a fun border with them.  For the sun die that comes with the rainbow set, I added some glitter sprinkles to the ends of his rays.  Isn't he so irresistible?!

Card No. 4: For this card I let the Sizzlits Eyelet Lace & Scallops Decorative Strip Die and Doodlebug's textured cardstock take center stage.  I chose to leave the interior shapes in place so that they could layer on top of each other with less distractions of what was going on underneath each one.  Easy peasy and yet still so happy.

Card No. 5:  The options with the sweet umbrella die are literally endless.  I love how it works for Rainy Day spring cards, baby showers and even bridal showers.  For this baby boy card I chose to cut my umbrella from several different prints included in the Snips & Snails paper collection and then paper-piece it together.  A couple of coordinating birdie icon stickers were the perfect finishing touch.

Card No. 6:  My last card uses the umbrella die again for a girly bridal shower card.  I paired it with the Tiny Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for my background and some of the scalloped borders from that same decorative strip die I used on my 4th card.  For my soft pink prints I used Doodlebug's Sugar & Spice 6x6 Paper Pad.

Are you a goner like me?  I hope I've inspired you to head over to the Sizzix website and take a good peek at them.  They are completely drool worthy!  Also make sure to check out THIS post over at the Doodlebug blog for your chance to win some of your own.  :)

  1. I am loving all your vibrant and wonderful cards! The baby boy one is a great scrap buster! I do have one question though. On card number 4 how did you get all the pieces of the border die to stay in? When I cut a die like that many of the pieces fall out and I have to glue them back in to get the look you achieved. This is such a tedious process...I do hope you have a secret! Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Thank you! For some reason, with this particular die and the Doodlebug cardstock I used, most of the interior shapes stayed in place so I just carefully added a line of tape over that spot to secure them. I was happy it didn't require much fussing over. If I had wanted to remove them I actually would have needed to use a paper piercer or Sizzix's roller die brush to get rid of them. :)
